Reminder: Special Announcement at 9:45 a.m. Today
Please join your colleagues in the University community this morning at the Eastman Theatre, where President Joel Seligman is hosting a major and historic announcement at 9:45 a.m. All members of the University community are invited to the event and the reception afterward. The University will provide shuttle bus service from Wallis Hall on the River Campus to the theater at 9 a.m. There will also be three buses leaving the Alumni and Advancement Center on East River Road at 9 a.m. Please arrive and board the shuttles early. The buses will leave the theater at noon to return to the River Campus.

Deadline for New Staff Awards is April 15
The deadline is Tuesday, April 15, for nominating a staff member for the newly announced Witmer Award for Distinguished Service, which recognizes staff members for their exceptional accomplishments, leadership, and dedication to the University, as demonstrated over the course of their careers, and for the Meliora Award, which recognizes staff members whose work performance over the past year exemplifies the University's motto, Meliora, or "ever better."

Computer and Electronics Recycling for Earth Day
Faculty and staff can recycle personal electronics on Friday, April 18. Bring your computer monitors, VCRs, cell phones, and other electronic equipment to the south end of Park Lot on the River Campus from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; event staff will help unload vehicles. Read more...

Asian Heritage Family Day at the Memorial Art Gallery
The Memorial Art Gallery will host Asian Pacific American Heritage Family Day on Sunday, April 20, from noon to 5 p.m. The free activities will include art projects for children, martial arts demonstrations, music and dance performances, storytelling by Rafe Martin, and more. Read more...

Eat Well Live Well Challenge
The eight-week Eat Well Live Well Challenge kicks off April 20, but teams should sign up online by April 14 so members can receive their materials and free pedometers in time. For more information, visit Well-U or call 273-5240.

Clothesline Festival Seeks Artists
Applications are being accepted for the 52nd Clothesline Festival, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7 on the grounds of the Memorial Art Gallery. To be added to the mailing list, call 276-8950 or e-mail clothesline@mag.rochester.edu. A downloadable application is also available at the festival Web site.

Last Club Rochester of the Year
For the last Club Rochester of the year, the Office of Minority Student Affairs and the PanHellenic Association will celebrate academic excellence on Friday, April 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Meliora, Salon D. The happy hour for faculty, staff, and students offers appetizers, live music, and giveaways. Read more...

A bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives clarifies the House version of the Higher Education Act. The new bill would require students and employees on campuses to be notified of emergencies within 30 minutes of security officers' confirmation that the crisis exists. Read more...
