Eastman Institute for Oral Health Director to Step Down
Mark Taubman, dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, will lead a national search for the next director of the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, as current director Cyril Meyerowitz prepares to step down in one year. "Dr. Meyerowitz provided 10 years of inspirational leadership for Eastman Dental Center after its merger with the University in 1998 and was instrumental in establishing the new institute," said President Joel Seligman. "We are grateful for his unprecedented contributions to our patients and the Medical Center. He leaves Eastman Institute for Oral Health well poised for a very bright future."

University Hosts National Leadership Workshop
About 70 participants from around the country, including Rochester, attended the American Council on Education workshop, "Leading Your Department into the Future," on the River Campus last week. The interactive sessions, designed for department chairs and center directors, focused on practical leadership issues and skill development.

Medical Center Receives $15.5M for Vaccine Studies
This week, the Medical Center announced plans to begin a cluster of bird flu vaccine trials, many of which will contain live, weakened viruses and require participants to remain in isolation for several days at a time.
