University’s Alert System Expands
AlertUR, an emergency notification system that allows for dissemination of critical information via voice, text, and e-mail is being expanded. Starting today, all graduate students and faculty and staff in all divisions except the Medical Center will be automatically enrolled with their University e-mail address. The current emergency systems within the Medical Center will continue to cover faculty and staff there.

Scientists Rate University a Best Place To Work
The University has been ranked one of the top 15 institutions in the nation for scientists to work, according to The Scientist magazine, which has published its annual survey of “Best Places to Work for Scientists in Academia.”

What Drives Us?
A model of human motivation founded by Rochester psychologists Richard Ryan and Edward Deci attracts growing affirmation at the Fourth International Conference on Self-Determination Theory in Belgium.

Survey Shows Dogma Can Dictate Doctors' Decisions
New research gives a glimpse into how medicine is often based on habit, not hard data, according to study author Jacob Moalem, an assistant professor of surgery at the Medical Center.

Biometric Screenings Today
The School of Nursing will hold biometric screening appointments today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m in the Cynthia Hart Classroom of Helen Wood Hall (Room 1W145). Screenings are available for regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff as well as non-Medicare-eligible retirees who are enrolled in a University Health Care Plan. Spouses/domestic partners enrolled in a University Health Care Plan are eligible to receive a screening at no cost. You may receive one biometric screening per calendar year. To schedule an appointment, call 273-2360.
