Meliora Weekend 2010 Web Site Goes Live
The Meliora Weekend 2010 Web site is now live, with program descriptions and information on the more than 250 programs taking place during the October 14-17 festivities. CNN's Sanjay Gupta will deliver the keynote address during the weekend, which features student performances, reunion events, sports contests, lectures and panel discussions, and student-sponsored programming.

Environmental Health and Safety reminds the University community to take the following steps to avoid heat-related illnesses: wear light, breathable clothing; drink more fluids; stay indoors or in shaded areas; and take breaks more frequently.

‘Landmark’ Tree Near University Falls
A well-known tree in Genesee Valley Park, a favorite of Rochester students who climbed its boughs throughout the years, fell over the Fourth of July weekend. Dan Schied, manager of horticulture and grounds for the University, says the bur oak was around 150 years old.

'Carnival for a Cause' Kicks Off
Mt. Hope Family Center is hosting a
'Carnival for a Cause' fundraiser from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 17,
at the Dragonfly Tavern on Park Avenue. Proceeds from the event benefit
the Africa Yoga Project and Mt. Hope Family Center.
