Reminder: Alternate Parking for Freshman Move-In Day
Three parking lots on the River Campus
will be closed tomorrow to accommodate Freshman Move-In Day. Valentine
Lot, all of Park Lot, and the entire length of Intercampus Lot will be
needed for the move-in process. Employees who regularly park in those
lots will need to park in the AAC Lot (formerly the River Road Lot) or
the Wilson North Lot. Parking maps are available.
Shuttle buses will run from the AAC Lot from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Cars left
in Park Lot will be towed to the far end of the lot. For more
information, call the River Campus Parking Office at 275-3983.
Grand Opening Celebrates The Commons
Wilson Commons' newly renovated food court, The Commons, opened Monday, Aug. 23, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and free samples of food from the new eateries, which include Panda Express and Zoca. See photos from yesterday's grand opening celebration.
Nurse Honored for Clinical Excellence
Mary Beth Earley, a nurse practitioner
and heart transplant coordinator in the Program in Heart Failure and
Transplantation at the Medical Center, has been named the recipient of
the Heart Failure Society of America’s 2010 Clinical Excellence in
Nursing Award. Earley is an assistant professor of clinical nursing at
the School of Nursing.

Sischy Lecture is Sept. 21
William Thomas, a nationally recognized expert on innovative care for elders, will present the 2010 Ben Sischy, MD Visiting Scholar in Human Medicine Lecture, "Eldertopia: The Rise of the New Old Age," at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Memorial Art Gallery. Library Hosts Used Book Sale
The River Campus Libraries are holding a used book sale during freshman and parent orientation. The sale will be held on Thursday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Rush Rhees Library reference stack area. Books are $1 for hardbound and 50 cents for paperbacks. There will be some VHS tapes and CDs, which will be priced at 50 cents.
