Nominations Sought for Health Improvement Awards
The Center for Community Health is seeking nominations for the 2nd Annual Dr. David Satcher Community Health Improvement Awards, recognizing Medical Center faculty and staff for significant contributions to the health of the community through research, teaching, practice and/or outreach programs. Peer- or self-nominations are welcome from within the Medical Center, as well as from community partners, by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14.

Holiday Event Features Local Vendors, Artisans
Students, faculty, and staff can purchase holiday gifts at this year's Holiday Vendor Fair on Friday, Dec. 3, in Hirst Lounge, Wilson Commons. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is sponsored by the Wilson Commons Student Activities Office.

Gingerbread Houses Help Habitat Build a Real House
The University community is invited to celebrate the holiday season by competing to build the best gingerbread house from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, in Hirst Lounge, Wilson Commons. All proceeds go to UR Habitat for Humanity to help raise money for the group's next house sponsorship in the city of Rochester. All supplies will be provided. Tickets are $6 per person or $20 for a group of 4 or more.
Bookstore Hosts Customer Appreciation Day
The River Campus Bookstore will celebrate Customer Appreciation Day
on Friday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Stop by for a chance to win a
$25 gift card and enjoy some popcorn and punch. Special sales also will
be in effect on calendars, Godiva, and more.
Fitness Center Offers Gift Certificates
The Medical Center's Fitness and Wellness Center is offering gift certificates for massage or membership that you can purchase for a coworker. Stop by the table the House of Six Nations Cafeteria from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. today for details. The fitness center will also have a table in Flaum Atrium from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8. You can also stop by the fitness center in G-5680 weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for more information.
Charity Collection Continues Through Dec. 17
Miner Library in the Medical Center is collecting items until Dec.
17 for Melita House and Mercy Residential Services. Items needed
include toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, liquid soap,
combs and brushes, baby wipes, baby lotion, baby shampoo, wash cloths,
baby laundry soap, and diapers (sizes 3-6). Donations may be dropped off
inside the Miner Library entrance.
Local Restaurant Supports Wilmot Cancer Center
Colie’s Cafe on Park Avenue will celebrate a holiday-inspired grand
opening Friday through Sunday, Dec. 3–5, with a portion of the proceeds
benefitting the Wilmot Cancer Center.
