University, George Eastman House Form Alliance
The University and George Eastman House
have entered into an alliance to further public engagement, research,
and education in the arts and sciences, with a focus on the museum’s
photography and motion-picture collections. It will be the most
extensive museum and university alliance of this type in existence.

Special Edition of Eastman Theatre Documentary Airs
WXXI has produced a program on the new Eastman East Wing as a
companion piece to its documentary on the renovation of Eastman Theatre
and Kodak Hall. Both programs, Restoring a Masterpiece: The Renovation of Eastman Theatre and Restoring a Masterpiece: The Vision Realized will air on WXXI-TV/HD (DT21.1/cable 1011 and 11) beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13.

Sidewalk Near Helen Wood Hall Closed
For the remainder of the winter season, the south sidewalk along Crittenden Boulevard will be closed between the Kendrick Road-Crittenden Boulevard intersection and Helen Wood Hall. The walkway is anticipated to reopen around May 1, 2011.
Community Music School Hosts Annual Homecoming
Students and ensembles of all ages at the Eastman Community Music School will be showcased during the school's 13th annual "Holiday Homecoming" series of concerts beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18.

Recognize a Dedicated Colleague or Team
Nominations for two staff awards─the
Witmer Award for Distinguished Service and the Meliora Award─are being
accepted through Jan. 20, 2011. The Witmer Award is intended as a
"lifetime achievement" award, recognizing staff members for their
accomplishments, leadership, and dedication to the University over the
course of their career. The Meliora Award recognizes staff members whose
work performance over the past year exemplifies the University's motto,
Meliora, or "ever better." Full- and part-time active staff members
from any division of the University are eligible for both awards. Details and nomination materials are available online.
Tips for Safe Online Shopping
Shopping on the Internet can be
economical, convenient, and as safe as shopping in a store or by mail,

University IT Computer Sales is having a one-day iPad/iPod sale on Thursday, Dec. 16, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The sale will feature $40 off all iPad models, $20 off all iPod Touch and Nano models, discounts on select iPad/iPod accessories, and a free long sleeve Apple T-shirt with iPad/iPod (Touch or Nano) purchase.
