Vitamin D + TB Vaccine: Allies Against Bladder Cancer?

Workshop Examines Entrepreneurship Opportunities
Duncan Moore, the Rudolf and Hilda Kingslake Professor of Optical Engineering and vice provost for entrepreneurship, will give the keynote address at an entrepreneurship workshop planned from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 25, in the Helen Wood Hall auditorium. Moore’s talk will be followed by three mini-talks from business leaders and professionals. The discussion will focus on entrepreneurship opportunities for PhD graduates and is open to the University community.

The Latino Professional Alliance will hold a meet and greet night at D’Mangu Dominican Restaurant at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 24. Open to all University employees, the social event is a casual get-together to learn more about LPA and talk with the board.

Supercomputer Coming to UR
Research efforts at the University of Rochester received a big boost when IBM Corp. announced that the university would be one of the first academic institutions in the nation to receive a Blue Gene/Q supercomputer. The Blue Gene/Q will be used by UR's Health Sciences Center for Computational Innovation, which has already attracted $84 million in funding using a previous generation supercomputer.

Graduation Day for U of R Students
It was a proud day at the University of Rochester as more than 1,000 undergraduates crossed the stage for the 162nd commencement ceremony. More than 4,000 guests attended the ceremony to see Ruth Simmons, the president of Brown University, give the commencement address.
