Remembrance Tonight Will Honor Victims of Mumbai Attacks
Student groups Sigma Beta Rho, ADITI, and HSA, are hosting a moment of remembrance for the victims of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, on the steps of Wilson Commons. Those in attendance are asked to wear white, the Indian color of mourning and peace. J. Edward Puzas, professor of orthopaedics, was among the survivors of the attack. Puzas, who was in Mumbai for a medical conference, shared his story with local media yesterday. ( 13WHAM-TV, WROC-TV 8, WXXI, WHEC-TV 10)
New Blog Promotes Dialog on Diversity
The Office for Faculty Development and Diversity has launched a new blog, Diverse Voices, as a forum for members of the Rochester community who are engaged, or have an interest, in diversity at the University. The blog is aimed at informing the community about ongoing efforts, both inside and outside the University, and to stimulate conversation around a multitude of diversity topics.
Free Readings of Play in Progress Set for This Week
Andy Bragen, who teaches an undergraduate playwriting class, is collaborating with students on a new play commissioned by the International Theatre Program. A free reading of the work-in-progress is planned for 8 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 6 at Todd Theatre. It is open to the public. The premiere of the finished play is scheduled to open April 23. Read more...
Financial Session Focuses on Budgeting
Learn how to budget today, Dec. 2, from noon to 1 p.m. in room 1-9535-Northeastern in the Medical Center. The session will be conducted by a representative from Canandaigua National Bank & Trust, as part of the Financial Health Bites series. Guests and brown-bag lunches are welcome.
Register Today for Baby Sign Language Information Session
Linda Schmackpfeffer will lead a one-hour class on Baby Sign Language for hearing babies at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 9, in 3-6408 (K-307) Medical Center. A question-and-answer session will follow. Registration is required a week in advance at 475-0432. Brown-bag lunches are welcome. Read more...
