Re: Hurricane Sandy
As with Hurricane Katrina seven years ago, Hurricane Sandy has had a devastating impact on millions of lives, including relatives, friends, and colleagues of our students, alumni, faculty, and staff. While it may take some days to grasp the magnitude of this storm, it is already clear that it has wreaked extraordinary devastation across a broad area of our country.
Let me encourage all schools and faculty to be supportive of students and others who may seek to return home to be with their families during the difficult aftermath of Sandy.
Our University has responded generously to past tragedies, including Katrina and the earthquake in Haiti. All of us may want to consider ways that we can help those who have been affected by this tragedy. Our hearts go out to all those who have been touched by Sandy.
