Reminder: Register by June 30 to Comply with SSN Policy
All faculty and staff who manage access to records that contain Social Security Numbers must register with the University by June 30. The registration process is part of a University policy adopted in January designed to guard again identity theft and to comply with New York State law. "All of us are increasingly concerned about identity theft, and we must take proactive steps to ensure we keep personal information secure. This policy is fundamental to the effort," says President Seligman. Learn more about the policy and how to register.
Fiscal Year-End Finance Announcements
In preparation for the end of the fiscal year on June 30, staff and faculty are reminded to submit any requests for payment or payment reallocation changes by June 12. All payment forms require the signature of the requestor's immediate supervisor or the individual with FRS/ledger account responsibility. Up-to-date finance forms are available online. Read more...
Flag Lowered Today to Honor John Baum
The University mourns the loss of John Baum, a professor emeritus of medicine and of pediatrics, who died May 4 at age 81. Baum was a pioneer in pediatric rheumatology who also was known as a compassionate master clinician and outstanding teacher. The University flag will be lowered today in his memory. Read more...
Final Push toward United Way Campaign Goal

Rochester Participates in Landmark Children's Study
Families in Rochester will be able to take part in the nation's largest study of the health and well-being of children from birth to age 21, through a multimillion federal grant awarded to the Medical Center. Read more...
Gollin Film Festival Prize Winners Announced
A "documentary" about a global epidemic of insects undergoing metamorphosis in reverse, a pair of human hands performing perfectly ordinary activities that captures the imagination, and an angst-ridden occultist who literally loses his head while entertaining an unfazed family were the top short films that garnered prizes at this year's Gollin Film Festival, an annual showcase that features the best student work. Fundraiser Benefits YellowJackets
The YellowJackets all-male a capella group will be performing at Barnes & Noble Booksellers at 3349 Monroe Ave. in Pittsford at 8 p.m. tonight and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. Throughout the weekend, shoppers who mention the YellowJackets will have part of their purchase donated to the group.
Wine and Wishes Event Raises Funds for Simulator Newborn Baby
The third annual Evening of Wine and Wishes, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, raises funds to improve the care of newborns and infants in the NICU at Golisano Children's Hospital. This year's event is raising funds for a state-of-the-art simulator newborn baby, which would be the first of its kind in upstate or western New York. Read more...
