Four New Faculty Members at Eastman School
The Eastman School welcomes four new faculty members this fall: Frank Huang, associate professor of violin and chamber music; Robert Hasegawa, assistant professor of music theory; Lisa Jakelski, assistant professor of music history; and Jan Opalach, assistant professor of voice.

Rating Season Starts
As commercial magazines gear up for their rankings season this fall, U.S. News & World Report has issued its annual "Best Colleges" list as part of its college guidebook for 2010. Rochester continues to rank 35th, according to the magazine, which is scheduled to make its rankings available on its Web site beginning today.
New Telephone Options for IT Support
There are new options to choose from when you call 275-2000 for IT support at the University:
• Select OPTION 1 if you are a student looking for IT Support.
• Select OPTION 2 to be connected to staff who will answer your
telephone, cell phone and pager questions.
• Select OPTION 3 if you are part of the Medical Center community
needing support for Medical Center e-mail, applications, and computer
support; (or you can still use 275-3200 if you choose).
• Select OPTION 4 or remain on the line to be connected to University
IT staff who will assist you with your question.
You can select any of the options defined above at any time during your
call. IT hopes you will find this new service helpful and welcomes

Defensive Driving Class Offered
A six-hour defensive driving class will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3:30
p.m Saturday, Aug. 22, in the Louise Slaughter Room (1-9555) in the
Medical Center. Participants may qualify for a 10 percent reduction in
auto insurance or four points off further administrative action. Cost
is $35 and registration is required. Call 905-9420. To receive a
discount when registering, enter code 4312. An online course is also available.
