Landmark Study Reports on New Therapy That Prevents Heart Failure
A landmark study led by Arthur Moss, professor of medicine at the Medical Center, reports that patients who had a cardiac resynchronization device combined with a defibrillator (CRT-D) implanted had a 34 percent reduction in their risk of death or heart failure when compared to patients receiving only an implanted cardiac defibrillator (ICD). The study was published online in the New England Journal of Medicine. (See news coverage from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and CBS News).
