Chemists Receive $1.7 Million to Explore 'Green' Energy Creation
A team of University chemists has received nearly $1.7 million from the U.S. Department of Energy to pursue the design of a new kind of system to derive usable hydrogen fuel from water using only sunlight.

Medical Faculty Council Announces Travel Awards
The Medical Faculty Council will present two travel awards that will financially support graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, clinical residents, and clinical fellows as they attend and present their research at national scientific and medical meetings.

The International Theatre Program will take audiences from mayhem to magic for the last time as Tony Kushner's The Illusion, has its two final performances, at 8 p.m. tonight and Saturday in Todd Theatre.

Celebrate Diwali Dhamaka, India’s Festival of Lights
The Rochester Indian Association will celebrate India’s festival of lights, the Diwali, at Strong Auditorium at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 17. The evening will include music, dance, and entertainment, followed by an Indian buffet dinner in Douglass dining hall.

On TV: Undergraduate Coordinator, Women’s Rowing
Dottie Welch, the biomedical engineering undergraduate coordinator, will be featured in the Bright Spot segment on WHAM-TV’s 6 p.m. newscast tonight. Also on local TV this week, WHEC-10 featured a segment on the women’s varsity rowing team Thursday evening.

Laser Vision Center Offers Lasik Seminar
The Laser Vision Center will hold a free seminar about Lasik eye surgery at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 100 Meridian Centre, Suite 125. Attendess will receive a future evaluation at no charge.
