Conference Celebrates Black Intellectual Life
The Frederick Douglass Institute for African and African-American Studies will host "Thinking Black Intellectuals" from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, and from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Hawkins-Carlson Room, Rush Rhees Library. The free event will include presentations and discussions on diversity, identity, and community, through literature, philosophy, cultural studies, and history.

Environmental Health and Safety: Hearing Protection

measurements to determine whether there is a risk to hearing if an

Understanding the University Retirement Program
A free informational session designed for employees newly eligible to
receive the University’s direct contribution to the retirement program
will take place at 1 p.m. today in ACF-C (2-1361) in the Medical
Center. A representative from TIAA-CREF will also give a presentation
covering general information on how to choose an investment allocation.

Lasik Surgery Information Session Scheduled
The Flaum Refractive Surgery Center will hold a free educational
seminar on Lasik eye surgery at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6. Attendees
will receive a free evaluation at a later date. The seminar is held at
