Robert Boyd Wins Humboldt Prize
Robert Boyd, the M. Parker Givens Professor of Optics and Professor of Physics, has been awarded the Humboldt Prize. The prize, given by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to recognize internationally renowned scientists and scholars, is given to 100 scientists each year in honor of a cumulative body of work.

Graduate Education is Topic at Faculty Senate Meeting
Bruce Jacobs, University dean of graduate studies, will discuss the state of graduate education at Rochester at the Faculty Senate meeting this afternoon. The meeting is open to the entire faculty. Refer to the e-mail invitation sent this week to all faculty members for the time and location of the meeting.

Junior Selected a 2010 Beinecke Scholar
Andrew Pope was one of 20 students nationwide to be named a 2010 Beinecke Scholar. The scholarship provides students with funding for the pursuit of advanced degrees in the arts, humanities, or social sciences and is given by the Sperry and Hutchinson Company.

A disciplinary hearing has found the Psi Upsilon fraternity chapter in violation of the University's campus judicial code.

Financial Health Bites: Workplace Banking
Learn about workplace banking from noon to 1 p.m. today in the House of Six Nations cafeteria in the Medical Center. Representatives from Advantage Federal Credit Union, Bank of America, Canandaigua National Bank & Trust, Chase Bank, HSBC Bank, and M&T Bank will be available. Some freebies will be provided.

Fitness and Wellness Center Offers Zumba
The Fitness and Wellness Center at the Medical Center offers Zumba classes to non-members at 12:15 p.m. Tuesdays and at 5:15 p.m. Thursdays. Cost is $5 per class.

Visiting Nurse Service Promotes Better Breathing
Visiting Nurse Service will host the May 2010 VNS/Upstate HomeCare Better Breathers Group from 5 to 6 pm. Wednesday, May 5, at 2180 Empire Boulevard, Webster. Corey Romesser, a clinical instructor of medicine at the Medical Center, and the hospitalist and medical director at the Acute Care for Elderly Unit at Highland Hospital, will be the guest speaker.
