School of Medicine and Dentistry Invests 10th Dean
At a formal investiture Wednesday, Mark Taubman, the 10th dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, said he was "energized by the myriad economic and social challenges facing academic medical centers" and he "looks forward to working with the faculty, students, and staff to ensure that the school will remain in the forefront of academic institutions." Heart Drug Effective for Treating Muscular Dystrophy
A Medical Center study finds that a medication most often used to treat heart arrhythmias also reduces a central symptom of myotonic dystrophy, the most common type of muscular dystrophy in adults.

Professor Elected to Lymphoma Research Foundation
Steven Bernstein, a professor of medicine and an oncologist at the Wilmot Cancer Center, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Lymphoma Research Foundation's Mantle Cell Lymphoma Consortium.

Sean Coffey, a master's student in the science education program who graduated from the Warner School in October 2009, was honored by the Rochester City School District with a New Teacher of the Year Award.
