President Seligman Issues Diversity Report
In his fourth annual diversity report,
President Seligman says that
although the University numbers "last
year remained relatively static
during an economic recession, if I've
learned one thing about diversity
more than anything else, it is that
numbers are at most a starting
point. What matters is the story behind
the numbers, the dynamic, the
integrity of the effort, the commitment
to progress, and in that sense
we're starting to move in the right
direction."

Study: Rochester Among Top Employers in New York
The University is the sixth
largest private employer in the state and "the leader in the
transition of Rochester's economy," according to a new Center for Governmental Research report.

Former Chief of Otolaryngology, John Frazer, Dies
John Frazer, a chief of the former Division of Otolaryngology at the
Medical Center who treated patients for 60 years, died April 27 at the age of 95. The University flag will be lowered to
half-staff today in his memory.

Cardiac, Surgical Units Earn Awards for Excellence
Two intensive care units at Strong Memorial Hospital will be honored
this month with a prestigious award that recognizes the nation's top
intensive care units. For the fourth consecutive year, Strong's
cardiac-vascular intensive care unit will accept the Beacon Award for
Critical Care Excellence, and for the first time, the hospital's
surgical intensive care unit also will be honored.
