Biologist Receives Grant to Study River Blindness
John Jaenike, a professor of biology, has been awarded a $100,000 Grand Challenges Explorations grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He is one of 78 scientists to receive the grant from a pool of 2,700 proposals.

Singer Family Prize Honors Excellence in Teaching
High school teachers Christopher Aukerman, Chun Chang, Stephen Robinson, and Jennifer Webster were presented with the University's Singer Family Prize for Excellence in Secondary Teaching during an awards ceremony commencement weekend.

Web Site Launched to Boost HIV Vaccine Research
The Rochester Victory Alliance (formerly the University's HIV Vaccine Trials Unit) has launched a new multimedia Web site aimed at informing and encouraging people to participate in HIV vaccine research.

Last Call to See Rembrandt Etchings at Art Gallery
"Rembrandt. Master Etchings from the Collection of Tobia and Dr. Morton Mower" at the Memorial Art Gallery, closes Sunday, May 23. The exhibit includes 34 works demonstrating Rembrandt's innovative techniques and mastery of printmaking.

Computer Sales: End of Year Billing
To help ensure billing in the 2009-10 fiscal year, Computer Sales is asking that all departmental orders be placed no later than June 9. Items must be received and sold by June 23 for inclusion in the current budget cycle. For more information, call 275-8353.

Financial Health Bites: Workplace Banking
Learn about workplace banking from noon to 1 p.m. today in the House of Six Nations cafeteria in the Medical Center. Representatives from Advantage Federal Credit Union, Bank of America, Canandaigua National Bank & Trust, Chase Bank, HSBC Bank, and M&T Bank will be available.

Lasik Surgery Seminar Scheduled
An information session on Lasik eye surgery will be offered at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at 100 Meridian Centre, Suite 125. Attendees will be able to schedule a free future Lasik evaluation. Reservations are required. Register online or call 273-2020.
