John Ballou joined the staff in November 2002. He works as an Academic Counselor with all undergraduates from the College: those pursuing degrees in Arts and Sciences as well as those majoring in Engineering. He helps in the coordination of the Industry Practicum and ORT/Braude Exchange programs for engineers. John earned a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Rochester in 1997. John worked for several years in the field of environmental education, teaching children the wonders of nature before returning to Rochester and joining the CCAS staff. John also serves as webmaster for CCAS. |

Kelly Barbic joined the staff as an Academic Adviser in January 2002. She has the primary staff responsibility as administrator of the Health and Society major. She coordinates the Certificate in Management Studies, Independent Studies and Internships, as well as Advanced Placement credit. Kelly earned a BA with concentrations in Health and Society and Psychology from the University of Rochester in 1998. She studied abroad in London and completed an internship in child and adolescent behavioral health. Kelly earned an MS in Higher Education Administration from the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development in 2003. She worked in Pharmacy, Psychiatry and Residential Life before arriving at CCAS. |

Sean Hanna joined CCAS in May 2005 as Assistant Director and Take Five Scholars Program Administrator. Sean is also responsible for coordinating the change of status process for undergraduate students. He is no stranger to UR as he had previously spent 6 years in the River Campus Financial Aid Office. Sean earned a BA in Education from Colgate University in 1998 and an MS in Higher Education Administration in 2003 from the Margaret Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development here on campus. He is continuing his education, seeking a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the Warner School. |

Anna Harrison became Assistant Director of CCAS after spending quite a few years supervising the Records Office. She now manages the entire office, watches over the implementation of the Rochester Curriculum, and sees students on an individual basis. Anna has a B.A. degree from SUNY Binghamton. She came to CCAS by way of the Department of Philosophy where she spent some years philosophizing with the best of them. |

Marcy Kraus joined our staff in 1999. Marcy began her career in higher education as an academic adviser at the University of New Hampshire and Washington University. She spent seven years in the University of Rochester's Admissions Office before returning to academic advising. Marcy holds a B.S. in Psychology from Viterbo College and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of New Hampshire. She coordinates readmission applicants, part-time matriculated student advising, the Quest program, and serves as the assistant to the Administrative Committee. She is the Senior Associate Director of Academic Support as well as the Dean of Freshmen. |

Scott MacPhail joined the CCAS staff as an Academic Adviser in January 2008. Scott serves as the academic adviser for the REMS program and specializes in health professions advising in addition to addressing general advising questions and reviewing independent studies proposals. Scott has been a faculty member at a number of colleges and universities across the U.S. He holds a Ph.D. in English from Indiana University and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Idaho. |

Alecia Matthews joined the CCAS staff in February 2005. She serves as Associate Director of Academic Support and Director of Orientation. After completing an undergraduate degree in Public Communication, Alecia began her professional career as a Public Relations Associate at several local companies in Buffalo, NY. Following a career change, Alecia enlisted in the United States Army as a Personnel Clerk. Once her enlistment ended, Alecia relocated to the Midwest and earned an M.S. degree in Higher Education Administration from The University of Kansas. Since entering the higher education profession, Alecia has worked in a small religious affiliated school, a mid-size state institution and a private technical institution. Her experience working with students includes positions held in Career Development, Residence Life and First Year Programs/Orientation. |

Lisa Norwood serves as the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, taking her back in some sense to her roots. In 1986 she earned a BS degree in Geomechanics from our School of Engineering and worked in the outside world for a few years. As an undergraduate, she was the Co-Coordinator of Orientation Programs, and when we hired her in CCAS she eventually assumed the position of Associate Director for Orientation. Through the years Lisa has completed a Master's degree in Higher Educational Administration and worked in the University's Alumni Relations and Development Office. |

Suzanne O'Brien began working at the University lots of years ago. She graduated from the UR (Phi Beta Kappa) with a major in English, never thinking that all these years later she would still be here. After a stint in the Center for Brain Research, and since 1970, her work has involved undergraduate students in their many complexities. She has served twice as Coordinator of the career office, and spent one year as Dean for Sophomores. She currently serves as the Director of CCAS and is Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies. |

Belinda Redden joined the CCAS advising staff in January 2000. Belinda earned an A.B. from Dartmouth and an MA from Middlebury, both in French Language and Literature. Belinda is no stranger to the world of higher education and undergraduate students, having spent most of her adult life in academe not only as a graduate student, but also as a French instructor, research assistant, library assistant, and special programs coordinator at institutions such as Princeton, Bryn Mawr, and Ohio University prior to coming to Rochester in summer 1999 following her husband's appointment to the UR English faculty. Her previous roles in academia have afforded her a unique perspective on undergraduates gained from having taught, hired, supervised, and served them. She brings this perspective to her duties in CCAS as an Assistant Director, and serves as Director of Fellowships. |

Kate Sgabellone joined CCAS as an Academic Advisor in February 2005 and brings a diverse background in counseling and academic advising to UR. Kate earned her BS in Social Work from Nazareth College and has worked in academic advising at Palm Beach Community College in south Florida and most recently as a Financial Counselor at Westside Health Services in Rochester. Her primary responsibilities include: health professions advising, transfer credit, basic science sequence, IB & intercollegiate credit, certificates (with the exception of the Management certificate), assisting with Independent Study/Internships, coordinator of the College Prize program, and Orientation assistant. She is currently pursuing an MS in Higher Education Administration at the Warner School. |

Jennifer Sherwood joined the CCAS advising staff as an Academic Counselor and Coordinator of Health Professions Advising in Fall 2004. Her primary responsibilities include: advising and assisting undergraduate students from the College and providing services to students interested in health professions from pre-freshman through post-graduation. Jenn earned a BA in History from Stanford University, is working on her MA in Women's Studies and comes to the University of Rochester by way of George Washington University's Sociology Department. |

Juliet Sullivan is the administrator of the KEY Program and advises the students in the Post-baccalaureate Pre-medical Program. After graduating from Boston University, Juliet studied English literature at the University of Rochester, and wrote her dissertation on etiquette in medieval English literature. She has taught courses in medieval literature, Shakespeare, children's literature, and writing at the River Campus and Eastman School of Music. She joined CCAS in January of 2008. |

Monique "Nikki" Terry joined the staff as an Academic Adviser in July 2007. Nikki works with all undergraduates in the College: those pursuing degrees in Arts and Sciences as well as those majoring in engineering. She also assists with Orientation and some special programs related to Engineering such as FIRST LEGO League. Nikki earned her B.A. in Health & Society at the University of Rochester. Soon thereafter, she began working as an Admissions Advisor at SUNY College at Brockport, where she earned a B.S. in Political Science and is nearing the completion of an M.A. in World History. As a student at the University of Rochester, Nikki was involved in Big Buddies/Little Buddies Program, Black Students' Union, Community Learning Center, and the Charles Drew Pre-Health Professions Society. She looks forward to serving as an adviser in the College, where she will attempt to fit the College's mission and offerings with the needs and interests of individual students. |
