Day 4

Half a day of digging and shovelling and carting and tipping and more digging...

but finally...

the excavations are almost done and I've reached the promised land (kinda).

By the end of the (half) day, I'd completed the mini satellite patio and the end of the path...

In addition, I'd cleared another path for re-laying of some existing flagstones:

and the last thing left to do (apart from some general neatening up and troubleshooting) was to dig a drainage ditch for the gutter.

I started this late in the day:

...then braced myself for what I hope is the final bit of excavating...

...and only finished in the wee hours of the evening.
