Sarah Mantell is a native of slushy Rochester, Sarah left to earn a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. Thanks to a fortuitous set of events in her final semester, she ended up in a class taught by Paula Vogel, listening to aspiring Brown University playwrights read their work. The experience convinced her to strike out west to intern at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco. While there, she worked with the Magic’s Literary Committee, the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, and the Stanford National Center for New Play Development. She even got to run lines with Joan Rivers. She is back in Rochester for a Literary Fellowship at Geva Theatre where she has always wanted to work. Her short plays have won the RISD Fiction Contest and been read at Geva’s Regional Playwrights Festival and Two Pages/Two Voices. She is excited to read the work of University of Rochester writers!
