Fields of Interest
History of energy and technology; urban history; military history.

My principal area of interest is the history of energy, especially urban and institutional district heating systems. As an engineer and historian, I am attempting to uncover the diverse range of political, cultural, environmental, and technological elements that caused our physical infrastructures to be built as they were. I teach courses on the Politics of Energy and the Environment; History of Technology; and the History of Rochester.
