Many of the solution sets to the assignments will be written in Maple V. Maple V is a product of the University of Waterloo, Ontario. The worksheets that I will be preparing use the student version of Maple V, release 4. (This costs about $100 for legitimate educational users, and I recommend it. If you are already using Mathematica, that's fine, too. Homework using either program, or other symbolic manipulation routine, is fine with me. Please put enough comments in that I can understand what you are trying to do.) I have prepared a brief glossary/guide to Maple, enough, I hope, for you to read solution sets. This is a pdf file, and you will need Acrobat to read it. You can obtain Acrobat free from Adobe. There's a lot of additional neat stuff available from Maple's home page. Check out the applications center.
