A number of fellowships are awarded every summer, depending on funds available and student need.
These scholarships are awarded in an annual competition to undergraduate students to allow them to complete an approved course of summer language study in a country where that language is spoken. Preference will be given to UR students who intend to study in a program run by the University of Rochester, if such a program is available in the language the student wishes to study. The competition is open to all undergraduates who will have completed at least one year of foreign language study at UR and graduate students in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures. Awards are determined on the basis of merit and need.
Application requirements:
- Statement of project
- Anticipated expenses
- faculty letter of recommendation
- Academic transcript (or 1st-semester grade report for freshmen)
