Events
Two sorts of frequent events occur in the Philosophy Department. Colloquia are talks given by invited speakers or by members of the department. Each talk is followed by a discussion period and usually by a reception in the Linguistics and Philosophy Lounge, Lattimore 501. All Colloquia are open to the public and all take place on the River Campus of the University of Rochester (unless otherwise noted).
The Philosophy Council is the Philosophy Department's undergraduate organization. The council meetings are open to all undergraduates interested in philosophy. Majors and minors are especially encouraged to participate, but other undergraduate and graduate students and faculty are welcome to attend as well. The council meets almost every week during the term on Friday afternoon, from 2:00 until 3:30 or whenever people tire of meeting. Most meetings are in the Philosophy/Linguistics lounge, 501 Lattimore. Refreshments are served at all meetings.
The Seventh Biennial Rochester Graduate Student Epistemology Conference will take place October 19-20, 2012. For details, see here.
