Research Interests

Ultrafast nonlinear optical spectroscopy of isolated molecules, clusters, and in condensed phases; Solvation dynamics and intermolecular interactions in liquids; Cooperative electronic excitations and optical response of confined excitons in conjugated polymers, organic superlattices and semiconductor nanostructures; Optical materials; Nonlocal quantum electrodynamics and many-body effects in nonlinear optics; Biological electron and energy transer in the photosynthetic reaction center and antenna systems; Transport and quantum localization in disordered materials. Recently, Prof. Mukamel completed a graduate-level textbook entitled, Principles of Nonlinear Optical Spectroscopy, for use in a course for Physics, Chemistry, Optics, Electrical Engineering and Chemical Engineering students.
