Clusters
Each Cluster contains a minimum of twelve credits of coursework, which is equivalent, in most cases, to three courses. Each Cluster falls within one of the three academic divisions: Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences and Engineering. In each of these three divisions, students will be expected to complete a formal set of coursework: a major, a minor, or a Cluster.
Humanities Clusters
Race and Gender Cluster—#H1WST001
This cluster focuses on the intersections of race and gender, with special emphasis on African-American history, literature, and writing.

This cluster enables students to study a broad range of representations of gender across the arts and media, as well as exploring the situation of women artists and writers.

Gender and Literature—Cluster #H1WST003
The courses in this cluster deal with gender and literature. Students will explore both the representation of women (and men) in writing, and the situation and practice of the women authors.

This cluster introduces students to a range of approaches to gender, primarily based in the social sciences, and covering a variety of cultures.

This cluster provides an in depth exploration of the history and theory of feminism, through a range of approaches, including philosophy, literary criticism, history, religion, and political theory.
