The Study Abroad Expo is designed to help students learn more about overseas opportunities available to them. This year it is being co-sponsored by the Center for Study Abroad, the Office of Minority Student Affairs, the Deans of Freshmen and Sophomores, the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the McNair Program.
The Expo features study abroad programs with which the University of Rochester has formal affiliations. There are information tables for all UR study abroad programs, as well as other semester, year, and summer international opportunities. Representatives from the following programs will be present: the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES), the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), American University in Cairo (AUC), Advanced Studies in England (ASE), Jagiellonian University, and Internships in Europe (EPA). University of Rochester Faculty will also be present with information on their summer programs including: Historical Archaeology Field School in Smith's Island, Bermuda (summer), French Sign Language and Deaf Culture in France (summer), Malawi Immersion Seminar (summer), and San Martino Archaeological Field School.
Representatives from the Financial Aid Office will be on hand to advise students and a travel agent from Park Avenue Travel will be present to furnish information about transportation and International Student ID Cards. Other offices that will be present to answer questions and provide information include: the Office for Minority Student Affairs, the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the College Center for Academic Support, Athletics and Recreation, the Interfaith Chapel/Hillel, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, the Dean of Freshmen, and the Dean of Sophomores.
Finally, study abroad returnees provide peer advising as they share stories and advice based on their own overseas studies. Refreshments complement this lively discussion of international pursuits.

Do you need to renew your current passport or apply for a new one? At the Expo a representative of the City of Rochester will be on campus with application materials. You may pick up the paperwork, or apply for a passport on the spot. There will also be a photographer from Plymouth Photo Studio will be there to take passport size photos. Prices for photos are 2 for $10.00 or 4 for $15.00.
If you want to apply for a passport on January 22rd, come prepared with the following:
• Your birth certificate with raised seal OR naturalization papers OR old passport
• Your driver’s license
• Your checkbook. The fees are as follows:
Renewal - $75 (bring the old passport)
New Passport - $100 ($75 to the Feds and $25 to the City)
If you wish to expedite the passport the cost is an additional $60 and $14.85 for returning the passport via overnight delivery service. A photographer will take passport photos on-site.

Processing time for passports can be eight weeks or more.
