DAN 216 Yoga and Experiential Anatomy
2.0 Credits
Instructor: Cook, J. and Corea, D

In this course we will study and embody the anatomical systems  through the practice of yoga asanas (postures). As we delve experientially into bones, muscles, organs, nervous system, fluids and connective tissue, we bring a deeper awareness, refinement and clarity to the exploration of the yoga asanas as well as to our daily functional movement and other movement practices. We discover that the asanas become an expression of our internal experience rather than a form we impose upon the body. Awareness of our own living anatomy offers us support for our movement and opens up rich and subtle possibilities for self expression. A variety of approaches to learning will be used including movement, discussion, journaling, reading, coloring anatomical drawings and individual and partner hands on work.
