Harriette Royer
Labyrinth Walk Presentation
November 1 and 2, 2003
Ms. Royer did a presentation referred to as the Labyrinth Walk.
In addition to learning about the structure and design of labyrinths
and how to walk one, participants were invited to form an intention,
walk a 7 circuit labyrinth holding their intention, and share their
experiences with other students. The Labyrinth is an ancient unicursal,
double-vortex design used for millennia around the globe for dance,
ritual, celebration, and spiritual connection. Moving by walking,
dancing, or running through its meandering path to the center and
back creates a powerful energy field. Ms. Royer is a Labyrinth
Steward and Spirit Coach who catalyzes change and facilitates healing
for individuals and organizations. She is also an accomplished
career coach, employment counselor, and trainer.
Claire Porter
Master Class and
One -Act Play, Reading of Poetry
November 13 & 14, 2003
Ms. Porter is a poet, choreographer and dancer. She did a piece
called “Namely Muscles” which is a one-hour play with
Ms. Porter portraying Dr. Nickie Nom, Forensic Orthopedic Autopsy
Muscular Anatomical Surgical Specialist as she gave a reading from
her book of poems, Namely, Muscles. The poems enact 86 major muscles
of the body and then some.

Rain Sadkane
Dance Performance
December 6, 2003
Rain Sadkane gave a dance performance, which included contemporary
modern dance combined with Middle Eastern dance and music, along
with Arabic poetry. Her introduction included a brief explanation
of "Orientalism". The performance was followed by a discussion
with questions from the audience. In addition to Ms. Sadkane, the
performance included members of the Rochester dance community,
undergraduate and graduate dance students at SUNY Brockport, and
a graduate student from Ohio State. She collaborated with Mark
Knox, a film and animation graduate student at Rochester Institute
of Technology. Ms. Sadkane, who received her MFA from SUNY Brockport
in 1998, has taught at the University of Rochester and Rutgers
University.
