Chaucer's description of the Oxford scholar in The Canterbury Tales, "gladly would he learn and gladly teach" reflects the same yin and yang of learning and teaching that has guided my path through many diverse fields including western sports, eastern martial arts, ancient philosophy and modern technology in a pilgrimage of knowledge and self-discovery. Tai Chi and Qigong are the most effective tools that I have found for the integration of mind, body and spirit and I believe that these ancient energy practices can be valuable resources for students seeking balance and harmony in an ever-changing and stressful society. My educational philosophy reflects Mark Van Doren's statement that "the art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery." And as Jou, Tsung-hwa has said, "Let us learn from one another! We are all students-taiji is the teacher."
