Each semester The Program hosts a guest artist for an extended period of time. The guest artist leads a combination of workshops, master classes and lecture/demonstrations. The residency also includes a guest artist performance, which is open to the public. The extended time period of a residency allows students to fully engage in and experience the artist’s creative process.   Multiple times each semester guest artists are invited by The Program to conduct workshops and/or master classes. The guest artists represent an extensive range of dance disciplines, providing a culturally-rich and thought-provoking experience for those who participate. The workshops and master classes are open to all dance students .   The Program offers a diverse set of classes that are carefully woven together to provide the students with diverse models of experiential learning and ways of thinking. The classes simultaneously emphasize sharing, cooperation and self-reliance. Students are encouraged to be open and respect their immediate experience as a significant aspect of the educational process.   The Fundamentals of Movement Labs were implemented in the Program of Movement and Dance in the year 2002. The Labs are designed with a focus on body awareness, alignment, and experiential anatomy as a foundation for any movement practice within the program. The work explored in the Labs supports and supplements the knowledge and skills students acquire in their various movement courses.
