Our staff team would like to provide you with some information we think will be helpful as you transition to the University of Rochester. Included on this website is the following:
- Your copy of the Freshman Academic Handbook
- Teen & Sibling Orientation registration forms
- Parent Orientation Information
- Information about a pre-Orientation camping trip for a limited number of students
- How to submit your picture and order a Freshman Directory
Take some time to review your Freshman Academic Handbook. This book provides an overview of departments, programs, majors, minors and many other academic opportunities that will be available to you at Rochester. Once you have reviewed your Freshman Academic Handbook, you are ready to begin the process of setting up your Fall Class Schedule.
Another important document you will need, the Web Registration Guide, is available online. The web-registration guide: is an essential tool providing instructions on the pre-registration period. Pre-registration permit incoming freshman that are interested to register for certain biology, chemistry, math, introductory engineering courses and primary writing courses between June 25th and July 27th. This guide will provide you with information on pre-requisites necessary to register for these courses and instructions for navigating our online registration system. You will complete the remainder of your course registration during Orientation Week after a meeting with an adviser. Online course descriptions and schedules are available at: https://cdcs.ur.rochester.edu/.
In case you have not done so yet, you need to get your NetID and assign your password. If you do not have these, please go to the ITS website: http://www.rochester.edu/it/incoming/. From there you should click on the link "Activate your NetID." You will need your student ID number from the enrollment packet admissions sent you. Hold onto your Net ID and password, as you will use them often.
