Guest Jazz Artist: Gene Bertoncini, guitar

Internationally known jazz guitarist Gene Bertoncini presents his annual summer concert in Rochester. Called the “Segovia of jazz” for his lyricism and fluid technique on acoustic jazz guitar, Bertoncini has recorded numerous CDs of his solo arrangements and has played with jazz greats including Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, Wayne Shorter and many others. A prolific and popular studio musician, Bertoncini was a member of “The Tonight Show” band during Johnny Carson’s tenure, has worked with composers and arrangers such as Lalo Schifrin and Michael Legrand, and has performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.
