Thomas Gaynor studies with Prof. David Higgs in both the DMA and Artist’s Certificate programs. Born in New Zealand, he began his organ studies at Wellington Cathedral of St. Paul, working with Michael Fulcher first as an organ scholar and later as honorary sub-organist. His undergraduate studies were completed at the New Zealand School of Music under Douglas Mews. Thomas is the first-place winner of a number of international competitions, including St Albans 2017, Erfurt/Weimar Bach-Liszt 2015, and Sydney 2015. He can be heard in recital regularly across the USA, Europe and Australasia. Currently, he is associate director of music at Christ Episcopal Church in Pittsford, NY. Thomas has participated in masterclasses with many of today’s most influential artists, including Michel Bouvard, Cameron Carpenter, James David Christie, Ken Cowan, Olivier Latry, Jean-Baptiste Robin, Jaques Van Oortmerssen, Stephen Tharp and Harald Vogel.

Thomas is a grateful recipient of an Arts Excellence Award from the Dame Malvina Major Foundation, the Creative New Zealand Aotearoa Scholarship, the Kiwi music scholarship, a Freemasons University Scholarship and the Maxwell Fernie Trust Scholarship.
