Event Description

 

Isaac Berglind, a 21-year-old cellist from Seattle, WA, is currently pursuing his undergraduate studies at the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of David Ying. Beginning his musical studies at the age of 11, Isaac studied with Efe Baltacigil and Janice Lee before beginning his studies at Eastman. Since beginning his undergraduate studies, Isaac has participated in masterclasses with Yo-Yo Ma, Darrett Adkins, Norman Fischer, David Geber and Paul Katz. He has also served as principal cellist of Eastman Philharmonia and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. When not practicing classical cello, Isaac is deeply passionate about composing and improvising new music, and loves to explore many different genres and styles. Isaac currently plays on a 1909 Ludwig Heinel cello on a generous loan to him from the Carlsen Cello Foundation.

Born and raised on the Canadian prairies, Danielle Guina is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Dr. Jean Barr. Active in vocal and instrumental areas, she currently holds a Graduate Assistantship in Piano Accompanying at Eastman.
Performing in concerts and festivals internationally, Guina has appeared at Songfest, duo526 Sonata Seminar, the FCMF National Music Festival, and the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival. She received a Bachelor of Music with a double major in Piano and Vocal Performance (2018) from Brandon University in Manitoba, Canada, and was awarded the Brandon University Gold Medal for the Bachelor of Music Degree. Along the way Guina has received numerous awards, including the Brooks Smith Fellowship in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music, the Ruth and Arno Drucker Scholarship, and the Saskatchewan Arts Board Prince Edward Arts Scholarship.
Guina has worked with renowned pianists Lydia Brown, Margo Garrett, Graham Johnson, Timothy Long, Kevin Murphy, and Alan Smith. She has also participated in masterclasses with Andrew Harley, Hila Plitmann, Alexandra Nguyen, Gordon Gerrard, Murray McLachlan, Andrei Pisarev, Douglas Finch, Futaba Niekawa, Colin Carr, Cecilia String Quartet, and Krisztina Szabó.
