Gabriella Higgins is a soprano from the New York metropolitan area.Under the private instruction of Robert Swensen, Gabriella is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Eastman School of Music. In November of 2019 Gabriella made her professional recital debut singing Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915. She made her professional operatic debut as Jenny Reefer in Virgil Thomson's The Mother of Us All with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in February, 2020. In the spring of 2019 she performed the role of La Libellule in Eastman Opera Theater's production of L'Enfant et les Sortileges. Gabriella is an avid chorister who has performed under the batons of Michael Tilson Thomas, Andris Nelsons, Ann Howard Jones, and William Weinert. Prior to her studies at Eastman she attended the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Program where she was awarded the George London Foundation Precollege Scholarship.
In addition to her musical studies, Gabriella is a candidate for the degree of Bachelor of Arts at the University of Rochester where she studies Comparative Literature. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honors society.
