American baritone Michael Aiello most recently performed the
role of Frederik Egerman in Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music at the
Opera Center in Aspen, CO. Other recent credits include: Lieutenant Audebert in
Silent Night by Kevin Puts with Buffalo Opera, the title role in Mozart's Don
Giovanni with Eastman Opera Theater, Sam in Trouble in Tahiti by Leonard
Bernstein at the Aspen Opera Center, Marcello in La Boheme by Puccini in San
Diego, CA and Tom in Gershiwin's, Blue Monday with Opera de Tijuana in Mexico.
Mr. Aiello has had the distinct privilege of working with
many contemporary American composers such as Jake Heggie on his chamber piece
Here and Gone as well as scenes from his opera Three Decembers. Michael also
has worked with other composers such as Libby Larsen in her new opera, A
Wrinkle in Time, Lori Laitman on her recently debuted first act of Ludlow; with
Herschel Garfein in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead as the headlining
Guildenstern; and with Kirk Meacham in Pride and Prejudice as Mr. Bennett.
In tandem with his operatic roles, Michael has also achieved
success on the concert stage. While working towards his Doctorate in vocal
performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY Michael served as
the baritone soloist with the Eastman Philharmonia for their performance of The
Seasons by Haydn. Outside of school, Michael was the baritone soloist for
Handel's Messiah and Faure's Requiem, both with the choir and orchestra of St.
John's Episcopal Cathedral in Denver, Colorado. Michael was the baritone
soloist for Vespro della Beata Vergine by Monteverdi under the direction of Dr.
Craig Jessop at the Cathedral of the Madeleine Choir School in Salt Lake City,
Michael was chosen as a Lotte Lenya semi-finalist in 2019
and in 2016 he received the second-place award in the Palm Springs Opera Guild
Rossini Competition adjudicated by the famous Rossini tenor, Rockwell Blake.
