Jidong Zhong was born in Beijing, China and began playing piano at the age of four. When he was 11 years old, Jidong was admitted into the Elementary School of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. After completing middle school in his hometown, Jidong traveled to the United States in 2008 to seek further development in piano performance. 

In 2016, Jidong received his Bachelor of Music degree from Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, Maryland; upon graduation, he was admitted into the Eastman School of Music for graduate studies in the studio of Dr. Douglas Humpherys. 

In 2018, Jidong received the Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and was accepted into the doctorate program to continue his studies at Eastman. In the same year, Jidong was named the winner of the Young Artist piano category of the National MTNA competition.
