Eastman Chorale presents Harp of David
The Eastman Chorale will present Harp of David, a concert of Psalm settings spanning the last six centuries, on Friday, November 21 at 8:00 pm in Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music, 26 Gibbs Street.  The program will include J.S. Bach's motet Singet dem Herrn, Arnold Schoenberg's De Profundis, and psalms from Canadian composer John Beckwith's cycle, Harp of David, based on nineteenth-century hymns.  Also included will be music of Francis Poulenc, Georg Schumann, Hugo Distler, Thomas Tallis, Orlando di Lasso, and J. P. Sweelinck.  The conductor will be Eastman's Director of Choral Activities, William Weinert.
The Eastman Chorale is a select ensemble of 50 voices from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, performing a wide variety of repertoire from the sixteenth through twenty-first centuries.  The Chorale has toured widely and has appeared with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, and in Carnegie Hall in New York City.
