UPDATES
Spring/Summer 2007 projects:
Dewey 4-162, Meliora 209, 219, and Harkness 210 received projectors, sound systems, and control panels.
The Goergen building came online with several new classrooms and enhanced confererence room spaces: 101, 102 (computing lab), 104 (BME teaching lab), 108, 109, 110, and several other departmental spaces were all constructed.
The public computing areas in the River Campus Libraries received new computers, and are now managed/supported by Classroom Technology.
The Rush Rhees Library Collaborative Learning Center project will involve several multimedia-enhanced spaces- check back for more information.
All College classrooms in theHutchison and Hylan buildings are being renovated this summer. Check back for more information.
The CWP lab is in the process of being upgraded and moved to the third floor. Check back for more information.
The Harkness Economics Graduate Lab will receive new computers this summer.
Hoyt Auditorium has been re-wired to eliminate a trip hazard and to prepare for the eventual installation of a second video projector.
Summer/Fall 2006 projects:
Dewey 2-110D, Dewey 2-110E, and Morey 321 received significant overhauls, including new furniture, paint, carpetting, lighting systems, and writing surfaces. New technology-enhanced classrooms with equipped podia were created in Meliora 205 and Morey 205. Projectors, sound systems, and control panels were installed in Gavett 208, 301, 310, 312, Morey 501, 502, 504, 505, 506, 524, and 525.
Wireless and wired network access has been provided in all classrooms. If using a wired connection, please configure your laptop to use DHCP.
The Gamble Room in the Library has been equipped with a projector, sound system, touch panel controls, and an A/V cabinet with a DVD/VCR and laptop connection.
The eMacs in Hylan 307 were replaced with Macintosh Mini and Dell PC equipment. All University ITclassrooms are now equipped with Dell PC's.
Projectors and laptop connections were installed in CSB 523, 601, and 632 on behalf of academic departments.
All public printers in University IT and Library locations were reconfigured with common, "cloudy" queues to enable someone to select from which venue they will print their document, even if it was sent from another facility.
Access to the pay-print system has been granted to all PC users- software has to be installed and is available from http://www.rochester.edu/printing.
ClassTech assumed responsibility for the Economics graduate lab in the Harkness basement; the computers were replaced with Dells containing the standard compliment of software, and the printer was replaced with a newer model that is connected to the pay-print system.
Summer/Fall 2005 projects:
An enhanced classroom was created in the Sage lower level.
CSB703 was turned into an enhanced classroom.
Meliora 204, 206, 208, and 221 were turned into enhanced classrooms with projectors, sound systems, DVD/VCR's, and document cameras.
The IT Center Macintosh lab has been made into a dual-platform lab with a Dell Optiplex SX 280 and an Apple Macintosh Mini computer for each student seat (the same number of seats was maintained).
Most of the computers in the IT Center main lab, and the PC classroom were upgraded.
A technology-enhanced conference room was being built in Harkness 329.
Closed-captioning devices are being installed in rooms with built-in projectors, starting with Meliora classrooms.
The computers in Hylan 303 were updated to Maya 6.5 compliant hardware.
Summer/Winter 2004 projects:
Meliora 218 and 224 become technology-enhanced classrooms with DVD/VCR units, video projection, sound system, document camera, and laptop connection.
Wilmot 116 became a technology-enhanced classroom with DVD/VCR unit, video projection, sound system, and laptop connection.
The computers in Taylor Hall were relocated to new classrooms in Hylan 307 and Gavett 244. Personal Response Systems were installed in B&L 106, Dewey 1-101, and Hubbell.
Summer 2003 projects:
The following ClassTech enhanced classrooms received touchpanels and switchers:

New SXGA projectors were installed in Hoyt Auditorium and Meliora 203
New XGA projectors were installed in Dewey 1-101, Dewey 2-110D, Dewey
2-110E, Morey 321, and Wilmot 103.
The XGA projectors in the IT Center Macintosh, IT Center PC, Lattimore
210, Taylor 31, and Taylor 41 were upgraded.
The computing platforms available in Taylor 31 and Taylor 41 were switched
in response to an increased demand for PC compatible equipment. Taylor 31
is now equipped with 25 G4 eMacs and Taylor 41 is equipped with 32 Pentium
4 class Dells.
All public PC's were upgraded to Windows XP Pro and Office XP.
A new software
protection program and anti-virus package were installed to preserve the
functionality of the machines.
All 19" TV's installed in classrooms were replaced with 27" units.
Older VCR's on TV/VCR carts were replaced with combination DVD/VCR units.
Older TV's on TV/VCR carts were replaced with 27" models, and two
new TV/VCR carts were made to replace older units.
Summer 2002 projects:
The following ClassTech enhanced classrooms received touchpanels and switchers:
B&L 106, CSB209, Dewey 1-101, Dewey 2-110D, Dewey 2-110E, Dewey 2-162,
Lander Auditorium, Lattimore 201, Lattimore 210, Meliora 203, and Morey
321.
A new SXGA projector was installed in Hubbell Auditorium, along with an
improved audio/video switcher. All video is now scaled to 1280x1024 pixels,
which dramatically improves the display of DVD and VHS sources.
A brighter XGA projector was installed in Lander, with a smaller image
to allow for concurrent use of the blackboards and the video projector.
Meliora 203 was upgraded from monaural to stereo sound.B&L 109 received a combination DVD and VCR deck to replace the existing
VCR.
All TV's installed in the second floor classrooms of Meliora were upgraded
from 19" to 27" screens.
Created two new 27" TV carts with combination DVD/VCR playersInstalled/replaced 23 overhead carts in classroomsInstalled a Dolby surround sound system in Hoyt Auditorium and overhauled
35mm film projectors to improve sound quality and equipment reliability.
This same sound system is used for instructional use as well.
Replaced all PII class machines with P4 class Dells with 17" or 15" flat panel monitors and CD-RW drives
Replaced all G3 class Apple Macintoshes with G4 eMacs with CD-RW drives
Installed 4 multimedia lecterns in the two IT Center classrooms, Taylor
41, and Harkness 114. These lecterns include DVD players, VHS VCR's, stereo
sound, a laptop connection, and an instructor computer.
Reconfigured the layout of the IT Center PC classroom to facilitate collaborative
teaching styles and to provide more room for mobility.
Reconfigured the IT Center public lab layout to facilitate printer maintenance
and to improve traffic flow.
Upgraded all Apple Macintoshes from Mac OS 9.x to OSX.Began upgrading all PC compatibles from Windows '9X to Windows XP.
Reconfigured existing Windows NT4 domains to Windows 2000 domain structure
Spring 2002 projects:
Hylan 303: Created a 16 seat computer classroom with an additional
station for the instructor. An XGA projector was installed as well.
Fall/Winter 2001 projects:
B&L 106: Added a DVD player Dewey 2-110D and E: Added computer projection, and a stereo sound
system with A/V switching capability. Added a computer with wireless mouse
and keyboard. Added a DVD player. Dewey 2-162: Added a DVD player Hubbell: Improved the A/V switching system with a touch-senstive
control panel. Added a DVD player, replaced VCR. Hoyt: Upgraded sound system to allow for stereo surround sound
from the devices installed in the front of the room, and install a touchpanel
for enhanced control over the audio/video system. Six channel surround sound
is available from the Hoyt booth DVD player. Added a computer with a wireless
keyboard and mouse. Lander: Installed DVD player
Morey 321: Installed a DVD player
Summer 2001 projects:

9/2000 to 5/2001 projects:
Hubbell: Installed an LCD graphics tablet.
Lander: Upgraded sound system to stereo, added stereo VCR, rehung
the screen to improve the image size.
Lattimore 201: Installed new lens to improve image size.
The Classroom on a cart has been retired from active use, and will be
permanently installed into a classroom over the summer.
Summer 2000 projects:
Hubbell: Installed handheld wireless microphone, removed electronic
whiteboard.
Installed over a dozen TV/VCR units in smaller classrooms on campus, particularly
in Morey and Meliora.
B&L 106: upgraded to

Technology Center.
Summer 2000 projects:

Summer 1999 projects:
Hoyt- Screening Room 1: The 16mm projectors have been removed.
The remaining 25 chairs have been arranged to provide more room and a better
view to the screen. The TV and VCR have been replaced with a video projection
unit that is connected to a VCR and aLaserDisc player. Stereo speakers have been mounted to the front of the room. The
podium has been changed so that the equipment is mounted to the wall rather than stuck inside the podium.
Hoyt- Screening Room 2: A larger TV was installed with a VCR. Extra
chairs and the podium have been removed. Seating capacity is up to 12.
Hoyt- Screening Room 3: Converted to a climate controlled video
editing room.
Lattimore 210: Has received an XGA projector that is much brighter and clearer than the previous unit.
Dewey 1-101: Has received an
XGA projector that is much brighter and clearer than the previous unit. An AV
receiver, stereo VCR and a
LaserDisc player
have been added to the room. The AV equipment has been placed in a better
cabinet at the front of the room; none remains in the closet at the lower
level. The sound capabilities have been changed from monaural to stereo
for any device except for the 16mm projector and the microphone system.
Lander Auditorium (Hutchinson 140): The video projector was upgraded.
It can handle higher computer resolutions, and has a much brighter image
than before.
A "classroom on a cart" consisting of a computer attached
to a VCR and a 27"Monitor is available
for faculty loan. This cart will be available for all academic needs in
rooms that are wheelchair accessible to the front of the room.
Two new portable video projectors capable of 1024x768 resolution
are now available for academic support.
Classroom Technology staff accomodations in Hoyt have
been rearranged so that all staff members are in proximity to the front
desk in order to better support 'walk-ins'. In addition to our student staff,
a full-time evening staff member will soon be hired to cover the hours after
5PM.
Additional 25"Monitors have
been attached to carts to improve our over-all quality and availability
of TV/VCR carts.
