How
can we help you?
Feel free to send an e-mail to our IT Center explaining the billing
issue, or call them directly at extension 52000 (275-2000) to speak
with a representative. Also please
send us your suggestions
for new questions we can address on this list.
1) What is a "restriction service class" or RSC?
On the new phones, the RSC or Restriction Service Class dictates
what numbers a user can dial from their phone. The RSC codes are
as follows:
- International calling
- Long distance calling 24 hours a day
- Long distance calling between 8am and 5pm
- 9 county calling
- Local and toll free calling only
- Internal calling only
2) Can I program my VMI and VME set
buttons to be a one-touch speed dial?
No, because these buttons were programmed to be a standard
feature on all Student phones, programming over them requires
us to reset upon a new student's arrival.
3) I just moved in and the previous persons greeting is on the
voice mail, how do I replace with my own?
Call
52000 and advise that you are new and request a mail box
reset.
4) Why is the message indicator not lighting when I have
messages?
This is a problem within the switch
that can be rectified by calling 52000 and opening
a work order.
5) Why do I have old messages and the message indicator indicator
is lit?
The light is broadcasting that another
box is associated with the phone has new Messages. (Could be a
second line or a roommate).
6) I don't think I am getting my external phone calls, how do
I fix this?
For the students the VME button are
probably set, depress the VME CNL one touch button this should
activate the external calls. For admin/faculty by pressing #41
this will cancel the forward all condition.
7) My pick up button does not work, what could be wrong?
You must be in a pre-existing pick up group within
the system. To answer another ringing line press #7 and the extension
number of the ringing phone you are trying to pick up.
8) Why can't I retrieve my messages from the department extension?
Depending on how your phone was designed in the voice
mail system (43660) it will prompt you to put in your passcode
(this would be you're "my line") if not on you're my
line, the system will prompt you to put in a mailbox number after
doing so, you will hear your greeting, press *, and type in the
passcode.
9) Why doesn't my passcode work when I am setting up my box?
There are two possibilities.
1. Your mailbox is not set up, you need to use the default and
go through the tutorial.
2. You are trying to use an old phone mail passcode or an invalid
passcode. If you cannot remember, the passcode you chose when
setting up the box call 52000 to reset the passcode
10) I want to connect my computer to my phone what do I need to
do or contact?
Call 52000 and submit a
contract with NC, and request an analog adapter. (analog adapters
will effect your call-waiting feature)
11) On the Rolm system we had a speed dial list. Why doesn't it
exist in the new system?
You need to be approved
by NC to have a speed dial list. (limited number available due
to memory)
12) Why can't I turn off my call back feature?
The ability to turn off this feature is only allowed on a display
phone, by pressing the triangular softkey, flashing CB on the
display. If need be, a CB CNL button can be programmed, if you
are willing to give up a one touch speed dial button for this
purpose. Contact your TDC person and submit an RFTS.
13) How do I program a one-touch speed dial button?
Press the feature key, press the one touch button, use the key
pad to enter the numbers, dialed by the number and press feature
to save. (Programming does not require dial tone make sure that
your receiver is on hook and your speaker is off)
14) I accidentally slammed my phone cord in the door. Who or
how do I get a new one?
Call 52000 and request another cord with University Information Technology.
(Multiple replacement cords may be a cost to a customer)
15) As a student can I get more messages for my voice mail and
how many?
Yes, you will need to fill out a contract
and submit it to University Information Technology. this will allow
you 5 more messages for a total of 9. (This will be included on
your student billing)
