Web Services supports information providers
at the University in a number of ways.
Information Provider Account / Web Publisher Services
When you become a content manager or information provider you will need
an account on the Web server we use to host your pages. There are over
150 Web servers on the university network.
Other servers on campus have their own administrators and application
process. For instance, www.courses.rochester.edu is
the server used to host College classroom related sites. It is
administered by the Ed
Tech Center.
If you need access to a server and do not know who to contact, ask us: .
To apply for access to the servers we administer you must fill
out the on line
Information Provider Application Form. Read the instructions
careful and fill it out completely. You must sign this form digitally;
even so, it is legally binding. Incomplete forms will delay your
account setup. When your account is ready, you will be contacted
for an orientation meeting in your office on the machine you will
be using to do your web authoring.
Typically, this takes one week. However, during peak times, it may take longer.
Training
New Web Publishers receive a hour-long orientation and setup session with
one of the Web Services staff or Technical Assistants (TAs).
