NIH has announced that new, restructured versions of the paper PHS 398 and electronic SF 424 (R&R) application packages and instructions will be available by December 2009. The new forms MUST be used for submission deadlines on or after January 25, 2010.
The NIH Enhancing Peer Review site (http://enhancing-peer-review.nih.gov/index.html) provides a number of resources to applicants. NIH will continue to update the Enhancing Peer Review website with additional resources as they are developed.

The new application format includes changes to the biographical sketch, including the addition of a personal statement and a limit on the number of publications or manuscripts to no more than 15. A sample biosketch is available at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/2590/biosketchsample.pdf
The website below provides detailed guidance for the revised forms and applications which will be issued in December 2009. NIH has provided this information to assist applicants who are preparing applications before the new applications and forms are available.
