Description of Facility:
The Gannett House is part of the C.E.K. Mees Observatory, a property located about 40 miles south of Rochester in Bristol Springs, New York. The University of Rochester acquired this property in 1964; obtained from the Ontario County Park and through a generous donation from Mrs. Frank Gannett. The house is to remain available to members of the University of Rochester community for rent on a daily basis for picnic, meetings or retreats.

Rental rates for the current year are $125.00 for weekdays (Monday through Friday) and $175.00 for weekend days (Saturday and Sunday). Due to its location, it is generally unavailable from 1 November through 30 April, since transportation to the property may be hazardous. Payment may be made with cash or University Requisition (SMH312). Confirmation of your date will be sent upon receipt of payment.

The Gannett House has a conference table and approximately 50 folding chairs available, a small kitchen with a stove, oven and refrigerator, however, there are no coffee pots, small appliances, utensils or table linens available. Also, there is no garbage collection at the Gannett House, so the trash must be taken with you. The groundskeeper will lock the door after your departure.

Due to space available, there is a limit of 60 people and no overnight guests are permitted. The Observatory grounds offer limited accessibility to the handicapped.
