Designated Leaders Scholarship
The Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester is making an extraordinary commitment to developing the next generation of school leaders. This commitment is based on a simple assumption—that the very best judges of leadership potential are our current leaders. As principals and superintendents, you already have an idea of which faculty members should be tapped to become future school leaders. We believe that our leaders have a responsibility
to the profession to encourage those with the greatest potential for effective leadership, and as a school of education, we have the obligation to provide those individuals with the very best preparation program possible.

Program Features

  • This unique program begins the training of high potential leaders tapped by their direct supervisors and endorsed by their superintendents.
  • The University of Rochester provides selected individuals with a scholarship to cover 65 percent of tuition costs toward our leadership credentialing program for New York State certifi cation at the building and/or school level.
  • In addition, those individuals who are interested in pursuing their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) have a very healthy beginning in the process as certification courses taken at the Warner School count directly toward a doctorate.

The Warner School offers this opportunity because we strongly believe that existing principals and superintendents play a critical role in identifying the next generation of school leaders. As part of the nomination process, we request that your school district commits to providing the nominated candidate with an appropriate internship in the second year of study.

  • Admission cycle deadlines are November 1, February 1, April 1, and July 1.
