Minutes from WGSA meeting on October 11, 2005:
Next general meeting: Tuesday, November 1, 2005, at 4:15 pm.
Business:
1. Communication with Warner graduate students: Will is exploring the possibility of a listserv; he will report back to us at the next meeting
2. Social events: Derek is deciding on different social events. The events can be done with only Warner students or in collaboration with other campus groups. Many possible events were discussed.
3. Susan B. Anthony Conference: Amy will give us more information as needed.
4. Publicity: Ideas to improve were shared. Possibilities include a bulletin board, using the kiosk by the 2 nd floor bathroom.
5. Bookshare: Interest in a book swap, possibly to be located in the Graduate Student Lounge was mentioned.
6. Attendance issues: Attendance is low. Possible solutions for this issue are:
- Have regular meetings
- Post flyers: Teresa is taking on this duty
- Make announcements in class: Will and Kelly are going to discuss this possibility with Deb Erickson
- Email students 1 week before the meeting, and then again 1 day before the meeting (Will is taking care of the emails)
Regular meetings will be held at 4:15 on the first Tuesday of the month.
New board member: Aaron Anderson has agreed to serve as the co-chair of community service.
