Minutes from WGSA meeting on November 18, 2004:
Submitted by Jan Soucier

Old Business
Amy Steed distributed specific information for Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender and Women's Studies and will be held on campus March 15th, 2005 in the Gamble Room. Posters will be put up soon. Deadline for submitting is January 14th, 2005.

Holiday Party plans were discussed and December 10th is a possible date for a potluck. Shaza Khan will investigate locations on campus to reserve for that date. Colleen Doyle will provide forthcoming details.

Students' concern with United Health Services has been addressed and a representative from UHS has been contacted. We are awaiting a response.

We have filled the open secretary slot in the WGSA exec board: Jan Soucier is officially our new secretary.

New Business
Treasurer's report was given by Laura Farra. Money will be designated for Spring 05 Warner Day of Service.

Melisa Dettbarn, co-chair for Community Service is investigating a regular opportunity to serve at the Boys and Girls' Club of Rochester and will share specifics at a future meeting.

The purposes, functions, and audiences of the Warner Word and Warner Educator were raised. There is an interest to explore a print publication from the Warner School Students, both master's and doctoral, such as the Journal of Undergraduate Research. Discussion will continue at a future meeting. Items from the Suggestion Box: WGSA Officers are happy to see students utilizing the Suggestion Box in the Student Lounge.

A) Copier access suggestion was rejected based on cost and potential misuse. Many professors will assist students if class copies are needed.

B) Locking Student Lounge on Weekends - This decision was made based on security.

C) Education Club Suggestion - Watch for more social opportunities, such as the Holiday Pot Luck on December 10th. Contact Colleen Doyle with more suggestions at cold21@rochester.rr.com.

D)  WGSA Doctoral students will organize in informal meeting in January to address a variety of items such as comps, portfolios, and dissertation writing.
