Mandatory Meeting for Students in Field Placements

Welcome Students!

On Wednesday, August 27, 2003, you are expected to participate in Foundations in Field Placements and Student Teaching. This is a MANDATORY EVENT if you are registered or planning to register for a Field Placement and/or Student Teaching Placement in either general or inclusive settings.

Who:
All Students in Field Placements this Fall

When:
August 27, 2003, 8:30-12:00

Where:
Dewey 1-305
R.S.V.P to: Terrie Hughes, 275-3950

A reception will be held at 8:30 am at the Warner School in Dewey 1-305, and the program will begin promptly at 9:00 and continue until 12:00 noon. Students, faculty, supervisors, and presenters will meet as a large group for the first portion of the meeting then each discipline will break into separate groups.

If you are interested in learning about requirements for Inclusive Certification, there will be a full day workshop on Thursday, August 28, 2003 starting at 9:00 am. The requirements for additional certification will briefly be discussed at the Wednesday meeting; however, the Thursday workshop is required for all students placed in inclusive settings who will be receiving Inclusive Certification now or anytime in the future.

Please bring a copy of your resume with updated contact information. Your resume will be distributed to your cooperating teacher, so please make sure that all of the information is current. Also, think about any questions that you have regarding student teaching and the fall semester. You will have time to ask them at this workshop.

Please call Terri Hughes at 275-3950 to confirm your attendance. Should you be unable to attend this meeting, you must contact your faculty advisor or Joanne Larson, Chair of Teaching and Curriculum 275-0900. You will be responsible for the material covered during the workshops.

This is going to be a wonderful introduction to field placement expectations, requirements, and student teaching. We look forward to seeing you on August 27th.

Sincerely,
Raffaella Borasi
Dean of the Warner School

Joanne Larson
